KITCHEN TALKS: Connecting Through Culinary Conversations @Lola Lokaal
Fresh Stalls is launching a new series of community events at Lola Lokaal in IJburg to explore the connections between food, culture, health, and sustainability. The aim is to create informal, welcoming gatherings where cooking and eating together become a starting point for conversation.
For each event, selected guest chefs—artists and cultural practitioners—will invite participants to prepare a dish together. The shared meal will open up dialogue around their work, experiences, and the social or cultural themes they wish to bring into the neighborhood.
From late January to late June, we will host one gathering per month for small groups of up to 25 people. These are not formal art events, but convivial social occasions designed to connect IJburg residents, Lola Lokaal co-workers, and the wider community through food and storytelling. More info on the program here.
Join us for our first evening of cooking, conversation, and community at Lola Lokaal on February 14th from 12 to 17 at Locatie 20. In this session, artist and cultural practitioner Yazan Khalili will guide us in preparing Warak Dawali—traditional stuffed vine leaves—while sharing stories and reflections connected to food, land, and everyday life in Palestine.
